Conservation Agriculture in West and Central Canada: an integrated review of adoption

Code: 9781801463867
Tom Goddard, Consultant, Canada; and Adam Hayes, Soil Management Consultant, Canada

Chapter synopsis: This chapter reviews the roles of farmers, organizations, researchers and policy all played in the adoption of Conservation Agriculture (CA) in Canada. The chapter acknowledges the value of conversations the authors have had over the decades with farmers, academics, extension specialists and others involved in the growth of CA across Canada. Although the scientific literature does not cover all aspects or answer all questions, the authors have augmented that with personal experiences working as soil management specialists for provincial governments during the rapid growth of CA in Canada. The chapter also provides a brief look and the current and future state.
