Site-specific irrigation systems

Code: 9781838797157
Amir Hagverdi, University of California-Riverside, USA; and Brian G. Leib, University of Tennessee-Knoxville, USA

Chapter synopsis: Conventional irrigation management is based on uniform application of water across a field, which may result in both over- and under-irrigation. This chapter focuses on site-specific variable rate irrigation using center pivot and lateral move irrigation systems, which are mainly used for row-crop irrigation. Via detailed case studies, it examines site-specific data acquisition and mining approaches, soil mapping, zone delineation, site-specific yield estimation and irrigation scheduling.
