Chapter synopsis:

This chapter provides an overview of crop modeling in three Latin American countries: Chile, Colombia and Brazil. It assesses model characteristics, strengths and weaknesses and areas for future development. The chapter includes developments in modelling the impact of climate change on key crops: upland and irrigated rice, common beans, soybeans, sugarcane and grass forage production for livestock.
