Chapter synopsis: This chapter reviews the causes and prevention of food losses and waste (FLW) in the Near East and North Africa (NENA) region. It assesses current estimates of the extent of FLW and its impact on food security. The chapter also assesses what is needed to reduce FLW to improve food security in the region, from better data and improved technologies and practices to investments in infrastructure to support effective food supply chains.
